People live in over 45,000 villages in Bihar, India in astonishing poverty. Those who can work earn about $10 - $15 per month. Most have no medical care. Half of them cannot read. They lack sanitation. After weaning, many children die drinking contaminated surface water for the first time. Others contract associated waterborne diseases. All need fresh drinking water. All need hope. Mark Brister Ministries helps through TIM, a Christian humanitarian organization founded by Biju Thomas in Patna, Bihar, India. TIM, acronym for Transformation India Movement, holds the legal equivalent in India to the U.S. 501 (c) (3) status and has a local governing board.
Bihar is home to 85-90 million people. In the impoverished Ganges river delta, Bihar borders Nepal to the north. While there are a few large cities like Patna, most residents exist with little hope in 45,000 rural villages of a few hundred people each.
