There is hope! You can help drill a bore well. Local laborers hand drill the wells down to 280 feet in depth, providing jobs. Each fresh water well, permanently numbered, digitally documented, and publicly dedicated, dramatically changes village life. Children taste their first cup of clean, cool water. As the village hand pumps the well, it comes to life. Villagers always ask about the secret of the well bringing life. Then TIM locally trained Christians share about the Living Water, Jesus. Villagers then can come to life spiritually!
Local workers drill the wells by hand. Typically, drillers take one to two weeks to bore if they do not hit rock. The equipment is antiquated, but it works. Hinged from a vertical frame, workers raise and lower a weighted pipe via a lever. A man posted on the frame holds his hand over the pipe’s end creating a vacuum that pulls a small bit of water and mud up with each stroke.
Though slow and labor intensive, hand well drilling provides jobs for local workers as they bore into the soft ground. Workers transport well casing supplies and hand pumps by bicycles and carts to the villages!
